Brit-Power Pop artist and former Spiritualized drummer, Jonny Aitken aka Jonny 8 Track, re-releases his 2008 debut RPM.
"RPM", the first album by Jonny '8 Track' Aitken after the disintegration of his American dream. Written in a week and recorded in a couple of days with his estranged older brother Rich Narco, (who sings lead vocals on Track 3).
"RPM" is a warts'n'all cathartic garage blues tinged ode to how 'Pride comes before a fall'. Catchy tunes that mask stories of alienation, isolation, the death of hope, grief, mental illness, loneliness, desperation and the pyrrhic victory of accepting your fate.
The ghosts of a wide range of artists can be heard from Big Star to the violent femmes to Scott Walker, a lifetime of imitating and hoping to reach the heady heights of 8 Track’s musical heros, with the desire to keep the spontaneity of creativity and performance alive on the recording.
Ironically this album was supposed to be the first of many quickly produced and released musical albums, ...but after ending up getting caught for over a decade in label politics and wrangles it now finally lives on Chicken Ranch Records, where all good devil music belongs!!!
